David Bradley Smith – Founder & Chief Executive Officer

David Bradley Smith has been an entrepreneur since graduating from technical school. As the Director/Owner of Acres West Power & Water and Rocky Mountain Environmental Water Systems over the last 20 years, he has become an expert in the water industry’s conventional water treatment and well service. His true passion though has been in green water and power solutions including water energizing, backup power generation systems, solar and wind power. Prior to Acres West, David built, owned and operated other successful business throughout North America in the automotive and entertainment industries. David attended Southern Alberta Institute of Technology majoring in power engineering technologies. He is also a gifted athlete excelling in many sports including moto-cross, surfing and skiing. David has two moto-cross championships to his credit.

Brian Thompson – President

Brian Thompson has over 25 years of business and entrepreneur experience. He has always showed a knack for creating and providing business structures so that people would get more of what they needed. He applied his skills to a wide variety of entrepreneurial endeavor, from entertainment to financial services. His most recent project was in the holistic health industry. As president of a start-up company marketing biofeedback devices and training to health practitioners, the company grew to a $25 million annual revenue level within 5 years with offices and representatives in over 20 countries. Brian has received many sales and marketing awards through out his career and has hands-on experience as a business owner in international direct sales marketing, setting up and teaching sales management programs, manufacturing, compliance with worldwide regulatory bodies and business training. Brian is also co-founder of Voice for HOPE (Healers of Planet Earth), an organization that educates politicians and policy makers in matters of alternative and complimentary health.

Richard Webber – Chief Purchasing & Product Development Officer

Richard started his career in the consumer electronics industry with Sony of Canada and Monster Cable Products, gaining over 30 years of experience in Senior Management and National Sales Manager roles. After his roles with Sony and Monster, Richard transitioned to the lighting industry with the emergence of commercial LEDs. He has spent the last 11 years gaining valuable insight in LED lighting products, specializing in commercial lighting product design and manufacturing. Prior to joining Switch, Richard owned and operated two successful LED Lighting companies in Canada and the USA from 2009 to 2014 and launched the Green Lease Program with RBC in 2013. When Richard isn’t working to keep Switch at the forefront of LED technology, he spends time raising his two children.

Rhonda Ann Clarke – Chief Administrative Officer

Rhonda Ann Clarke has lived and worked all over the world, including Singapore, Thailand, Russia and the UK. Her vast administration experience began between London UK and Vancouver where she was the Administrator (Business Admin Cert) and Staff Trainer at a Private Business College and later in a large Corporate Finance Dept. She also owned a Software Training business teaching programs at large corporations and universities. In Thailand, Rhonda owned/administered an Alternative Health Centre and trained Teachers globally.  Now in Canada, Rhonda has partnered with David Bradley Smith since 2009, assisting in managing and administering his Water Treatment Business as well as creating new projects in building, alternative power, new education as well as retreats and is a natural fit as CAO for Switch. Rhonda holds a B.Ed. Hons Degree and taught at an International School in Thailand and sat on the Board of Trustees. She was also an Organizer and Master of Ceremonies (MC) for Charity events in Hotels and Resorts.

Joshua Walter©™ – Chief Technology Officer

Josh has an aptitude for learning new things. Learning electrical principles from mentors at a young age, he has grown up with a proficiency and understanding for all things science and technology related. During his time in public school, he recognized business as the most ideal vocation to pursue. Emerging early into his career, Josh is exerting himself to make a positive difference in the world through the means of business and technology. Today, he is learning about the principles of business at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. Once equipped with a business commerce degree, he plans to help push Switch to the forefront of the green technology industry. Being a talented skier, he loves taking the opportunity to travel through the mountains when not working or studying.

James Walls – Director of Business Development

James comes to Switch from several sectors. He was the Principle of Middle School and Director of Outdoor Education at Strathcona Tweedsmuir School from 1986 to 2004. He was appointed by the Lieutenant Governor as the Regional President of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Young Canadians Challenge from 2003 – 2009. He was responsible for the direction of the Board and their work in Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. In 2002, he received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Award Programme. He has been involved in building and infrastructure projects with Sprung Structures since 2004. He accepted the call to Switch mid-2013 and works closely with the Executive Team and Sales Managers in national business development.

Kristen Poitevien – CFO & Accountant

Kristen is an ambitious and talented Chartered Accountant, providing personalized, professional accounting services to small and medium sized businesses. Kristen found her passion for business while travelling through Australia with a travelling sales team first as a sales person but was quickly recognized for her finance, accounting, knowledge, and abilities. Continuing on with her business acumen, Kristen registered for the Commerce program with the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in accounting. Kristen first started her transition to Calgary in her third year of University as she was employed as a summer student in 2002 with one of Calgary’s major oil and gas companies. This experience proved invaluable to her articling years at KPMG as she was able to speak with knowledge to clients about their business and really make sense of each company’s operations for purposes of financial audits as well tax planning. After 10 years with KPMG Kristen decided to marry her technical knowledge learned from KPMG with her passion for business and so began an exciting new chapter in her career as a business owner. Kristen is excited to partner with Switch Advanced Lighting Solutions Inc. to guide the company into a bright flourishing future. In her spare time she can be found spending time with her family playing outdoors or travelling.

Clayton V. Derochie – Director of Logistics

Clay Derochie has an extensive history in Logistics and Transportation. Starting in the Courier Business over 30 years ago, Clay rose through the ranks to obtain a Vice Presidency at Loomis Courier. Looking for a new challenge Clay started his own venture Reliable Courier Services, growing it into a nation-wide company that he ran for 22 years. In 2013, Switch had the pleasure to incorporate Clay’s knowledge and experience to help with its rapid growth. When Clay is not spending time with his many grandchildren he spends some of his down time as the President of the Vancouver Executive Association and a member of International Executive Association.

Tedd Kuchera & Brock McKergow – Regional Sales Managers

Managing Switch’s Eastern and Western Canada sales divisions are Brock McKergow and Tedd Kuchera, respectively. The Canada-wide sales team currently stands 14 people strong, and is continuing its rapid growth through the second half of 2015.
